Printronix launch T5000r RFID Ready Printer

The T5000r Thermal Barcode Printer from Printronix is the latest barcode printer to be launched, that can be easily migrated to RFID when the time comes. Designed to operate in demanding manufacturing or distribution environments, the T5000r is tough and based on the world-class 5r Multi-Technology Platform, to give superior performance. The T5000r has all the usual features of the standard T5000 printers like the flexibility to easily swap print heads to change from 203dpi to 300dpi printing, a die-cast design to reduce damage from vibrations and accessories like the Online Data Validation System , to root out those "bad" barcodes. However the advantage of this machine is that if you begin to use RFID, no further investment needs to be made as the T5000r is RFID field upgradeable. The T5000r printer is available to buy now so for more information on this product click [here].

Spectrum approval gives RFID a boost

A new European agreement will pave the way for wider adoption of RFID systems. Radio frequency identification (RFID) wireless tagging last week overcame a major hurdle on the way to replacing barcodes in the supply chain when telecoms standards group ETSI announced it had granted spectrum approval for the technology in the UHF frequency. The new standard will harmonise RFID readers across EU countries.
