About Us

Dash Computer Products started in business in 1992, offering Printronix line printers to major manufacturing and distribution companies, often running connected to Mainframe or Mini computers in mission critical applications.  Often these printers were being used to print dot matrix barcodes and so Dash grew its capabilities to respond to a requirement from these customers, for all types of barcode related products.  Over the following years Dash expanded its range of barcode related products and services, with thermal barcode printers being one of it's biggest selling products.  Barcode labelling software and barcode scanners were added to the portfolio and the knowledge base needed to support these complex products to the standards demanded by corporate clients, grew and grew.

In 1998, Dash was requested by a large customer, to assist with the development of a cutting edge Radio Frequency data capture requirement and shortly after Dash formed a division focused on RF Data capture applications and solutions.

The new division was named Barcode-IT and a web site (www.barcode-it.co.uk)was set-up to announce its products and services.  Within 12 months it was apparent that the growth of this division was phenomenal and so additional services and software were added to cater for clients requirements.

The Barcode-IT, WMS solution "Dexterity", was created and was specialised to provide flexible and high functionality warehouse management systems to integrate with existing data systems.  It was found that many clients wishing to use advanced warehouse management techniques, were not able to use the existing data system, due to lack of functionality, high cost or the expectation of a change in data system within a short time scale.  Dexterity WMS runs independently of the data system and Dash has developed interfaces to most ERP and Data Systems such as SAP, Oracle, Baan, Navision, Sage, etc. and can also offer an interface to any in house created or bespoke system.

Today, Dash works in partnership with many of the worlds largest and most innovative Auto ID products manufacturers, including Zebra Technologies, Datamax, PSC, Intermec, Printronix and EuroPlus+ (NiceLabel).  The most recent partner, Trux from Akerstroms, provide super rugged truck mounted terminals offering colour touch screen PCs and terminals where the user needs them.

The Future will be the integration of all things RFID into the printers, scanners, data collection terminals and computers that make up the hardware components of our solutions.  All of our software is already capable of working with the veritable flood of additional information that RFID can contain.

RFID is an exciting new technology for manufacturing, distribution and logistics and Dash intends to keep its customers and clients fully updated with the specifications, standards and most important of all the solutions to real world problems that RFID offer.
